The pathways, as the board describes them
RN endorsement. The applicant must hold an active, unencumbered license in another U.S. state and have been initially licensed by NCLEX-RN, or meet the guide's Canadian-license and examination conditions. Official transcripts and direct verification are required. Licensing guide.
LPN endorsement. The parallel LPN route requires an active, unencumbered license and initial licensure by NCLEX-PN, or the guide's Canadian-license and examination conditions. Official transcripts and direct verification are required. Licensing guide.
Compact status unresolved in current pages. The 2021 minutes state the then-current result of a veto, while the current licensing guide and board landing page do not mention participation. The page therefore preserves the dated statement and names the current pages searched without importing another organization's roster.
The published process
Practice while the application is pending. The guide publishes a temporary license only for a licensed Canadian nurse who must take NCLEX. It says it is "good for up to one year" and unavailable after a prior NCLEX failure. No general endorsement temporary-license route for a U.S.-licensed RN or LPN appears on the licensing guide or nursing landing page. Licensing guide.
Verification of the existing license. Verification must come directly from every U.S. state or country where the applicant holds or ever held a license. The guide permits agency email, mail to Lansing, or Nursys "Request Verification". Licensing guide.
Fingerprints and the background check. After online submission, the applicant receives an "Application Confirmation letter" with criminal-background-check instructions. The guide does not state the vendor amount. Licensing guide.

Background check and temporary license. The guide states no background-vendor amount and no separate amount for the limited Canadian-nurse temporary license. What any of this means for a particular application is for the department to determine.
