This page assembles Virginia's current endorsement route for an RN or LPN already licensed elsewhere: online filing, compact and single-state outcomes, temporary authority, verification, fingerprints, all stated fees and timelines, and the original sources. The pathways, as the board describes them
Endorsement. A graduate of a state-approved nursing program licensed by examination in another U.S. state may qualify. Virginia requires original-state verification, a criminal-background check, and primary-residence proof; endorsement applications are online. LPN page; instructions.
Multistate and single-state licenses. The checklist says an applicant who does not meet all ULRs or resides in a noncompact state "may be eligible for a single-state license authorizing practice only in Virginia." A compact-state resident applies in the primary state of residence unless relocating under the checklist's conditions. Instructions.
Remote compact practice. Virginia describes the eNLC as allowing nurses living in compact states to practice in all other compact states with one multistate license. LPN page.
The published process
Practice while the application is pending. The instructions recognize a temporary license and direct an applicant to seek reapplication instructions if it expires. The captured text does not state its ordinary duration or eligibility conditions. The public reports page separately names 30-day Authorization to Practice letters, but it was not captured into this packet; the relationship between those letters and the temporary license remains unresolved.
Verification of the existing license. The public route requires verification from the original state of licensure, identified as the state where the nurse took NCLEX. LPN page.
Fingerprints and the background check. State and FBI checks are required. Registration through Fieldprint begins only after the online application; Virginia publishes separate inside- and outside-state Livescan amounts. CBC page.
